Blood Lustre – Portraits using human blood
Where horror movies, zombie culture and stage blood are becoming ubiquitous and very realistic, actual blood seems like the next logical step in this extreme aesthetic.
It was an experiment – Would it even look real? Is it going too far? Could I find any models?
It has been a great experience… and quite the process.
Thanks to all of the models, who donated their own blood, J9 as the phlebotomist and Bloody Panda and to Kitchens’ Ink.

Untitled is a monthly (the last Friday) evening program at the Denver Art Museum.
There are tours with unlikely guides, performances, demos, discussions…
I was asked to guest-curate the event in May, 2016!
The theme I was given is “Rising Sun” and it’s during the current Samurai exhibit.
It was a Japanese-inspired popstravaganza!
Several of us are sickened to hear about the almost daily terror attacks, and that people are scared to leave the house, or glued to the TV, while the news repeats the same things over and over. Artists, performers and other creatives have always been at the forefront in trying to get people out and active. I am helping some friends activate this with some upcoming events n town, and a bigger movement as well.
December 11-13 there will be several events around 13th and Sherman in Denver. On Friday, 12/11, starting a 6 p.m. a CHAIN LINK fence will be erected outside City O’City, so that people can use it as an active memorial for those injured or killed in recent terrorist acts – across the world, and in our own back yards. This will be up all weekend – so bring out something to pou on the fence and lets link our support of those around the world.
Sunday, 12/13 from 2-10 p.m. at Deer Pile (upstairs from City O’City) will have performers, musicians and more to share their talents in the name of fighting fear.
So far Cristofer Lix, Whitney Rehr, Roseanna Frechette and the bands Firstimers and also Dr Death + Mr Vile are confirmed!
Read Cristofer’s manifesto here: linkdenver.org and Facebook event page

I’m creating a photo booth experience at TEDxMileHigh on June 13th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
I don’t want to say too much about it, but let’s just say I hope to capture some actual fearful expressions by people!
I got the opportunity to display 25-30 of my canvas pieces at Elle Caulkins Opera House for the next TEDxMileHigh! Saturday June 13th 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
I’ll pull from several of my art shows, including: FOOD FACE, Blood Lustre, Unstill Life and many more!
If you’re not familiar with TEDx, it’s a day of really interesting short talks, attended by 2000+ people. My exhibition will be in the lobby.
I’ll also be running an experiential Face Your Fears Photo Booth all day!! Ticket Info
